Kid Rock’s one-of-a-kind Gibson electric guitar, painted with a patriotic stars and stripes motif, was discovered missing earlier this week. The instrument was presumed stolen after overseas customs inspectors found that it was not among the gear packed for the artist’s performance for military personnel at an undisclosed location for an MTV/United Service Organizations (USO) special.
“I just want to get it back,” Kid Rock said in a statement about the guitar, which he had hoped to debut during his performance for U.S. servicemen and women.
The guitar, along with a missing hand-made rhinestone and beaded guitar strap embroidered with the name “ROCK,” was last seen at the artist’s Michigan studio, where it was packed in a large case with a other guitars and then transported to the airport along with his other equipment.
Anyone with information on the missing guitar and/or strap is encouraged to contact Nick Stern at Atlantic Records at 212-707-2051.
As previously reported Rock is due to appear along with Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule on “For the Troops: An MTV/USO Special,” which will air Jan. 1 on MTV in the U.S.
