With a new NFL season beginning last night, a slew of musicians — including Kid Rock and Bon Jovi — were commissioned to provide entertainment prior to the opening kickoff of the Saints-Packers game. To commemorate Sunday’s ten-year anniversary of the September 11 tragedies, a patriotic theme was brought several of the performances.

The pre-kickoff festivities were held outside Green Bay’s Lambeau Field, with tens of thousands of fans flocking to the free performance.

Kid Rock, the “All Summer Long” rocker and avid Detroit Lions fan, provided a patriotic interpretation of his 2010 single, “Born Free.” Maroon 5 and Lady Antebellum joined the stadium rock stalwart, along with “American Idol” alum and “Battlefield” singer Jordin Sparks, who performed the national anthem. Lady Antebellum performed recent single “Just a Kiss,” while Adam Levine and company selected their recent No. 1, “Moves Like Jagger.”

Bon Jovi closed the event, with a rendition of “America the Beautiful” filmed at a New York City firehouse (Engine 8, Ladder 2, Battalion 8), recreating the performance the band made ten years ago, following 9/11.
