Before releasing the latest visual for sophomore album “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,” Kid Cudi unveiled the first piece of music from 2 Be Continuum, his rock-leaning new project with producer Dot Da Genius. “Perfect Is the Word” was posted on the rapper’s Twitter feed early Wednesday morning (June 1), while a link to the music video for “Marijuana” — which was apparently directed by Shia LaBeouf — was issued hours later.

“Perfect,” a three-minute acid-rock jam, finds Cudi singing about how “cowards run away” and experimenting with crunchy guitars. “If you want my old shit, buy my old albums,” Cudi wrote on Twitter after posting the track. “I’m moving forward, all w/ me LETS GO! Life is about evolving, which is why im successful. P&L.”
Meanwhile, the “Marijuana” clip offers snapshots of Cudi cruising around on tour with a blunt frequently in his hand, as the rapper spends his downtime between shows staring at fresh bud through a magnifying glass. According to the Vimeo link posted on Cudi’s Twitter, the video was “directed, shot and edited by Shia LaBeouf.”
After “Man on the Moon II” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 last November, Kid Cudi announced the creation of a new label, “Wicked Awesome Records,” as well as his partnership with Dot Da Genius in April. Cudi told the crowd at New York’s Roseland Ballroom that the forthcoming 2 Be Continuum release would be “epic” and “wizardry at its finest.”
