• Alicia Keys’ “As I Am” holds on to the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 as the album shifts almost 61,000 (down 14%). Wondering if that’s the smallest sum for a No. 1 album? It’s not — barely. The “Dreamgirls” soundtrack sold a couple hundred copies less than “As I Am” a week ago last year. True, not much of a difference, but we’ll take whatever little good news we can get.
• The soundtrack to Academy Award-nominated film “Juno” jumps from No. 3 to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, selling 58,000 (down 15%). The movie, which has raked in $87 million at the U.S. and Canadian box offices, earned four Oscar nods yesterday morning. It earned nominations for best picture, best director, best actress and best original screenplay. (For those keeping score, none of the songs in “Juno” were eligible for an Academy Award nomination.)
• Raheem DeVaughn storms The Billboard 200 at No. 5 with sophomore set “Love Behind the Melody.” The album starts with 45,000. The singer’s last release, 2005’s “The Love Experience,” debuted at No. 46 in 2005 with 22,000 and quickly fled the chart after only six weeks. Last week, DeVaughn played “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Jan. 18 … Meanwhile, John Legend’s Target-exclusive album “Live From Philadelphia” debuts at No. 7 with 33,000. The 19-song set features his hits “Ordinary People,” “Heaven” and “Used to Love U,” as well as covers of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Dance to the Music” and the Beatles’ “I Want You.” Legend played “Today” Jan. 16 and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Jan. 9.
• Anne Murray scores her highest-charting album since 2000 as her new collaboration project “Duets: Friends and Legends” climbs in at No. 42 with 13,000. The 17-song set boasts such guest stars as Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Nelly Furtado and Celine Dion … Down at No. 77, Magnetic Fields notches its best-charting album, as “Distortion” bows with 8,000. It’s the eighth album for the act and its second for Nonesuch Records. Its last release, 2004’s “I,” spent one week on the chart at No. 152 … Ringo Starr’s “Liverpool 8” debuts with 7,000 at No. 94. It’s the Beatle’s highest-charting set since “Vertical Man” opened at No. 61 in 1998.
• Other debuts on the Billboard 200 this week include the wide release of Spice Girls’ “Greatest Hits” (No. 93 with 7,000), Matthew West’s “Something to Say” (No. 159 with 4,000) and reggaeton artist Flex’s debut album, “Te Quiero” (No. 162 with 4,000).

PROGRESS REPORTS
• Green Day’s alleged side project, Foxboro Hot Tubs, debuts at No. 30 on the Modern Rock chart with “Mother Mary.” While it hasn’t been confirmed by Green Day, it wouldn’t be the first time the band has pulled the stunt. Before the act released “American Idiot” in 2004, it delivered material under the pseudonym the Network in 2003. However, the Network never charted a Billboard hit.
• Brad Paisley earns his ninth No. 1 on Hot Country Songs as “Letter to Me” bolts from No. 5 to No. 1. Not counting his Christmas tunes that charted in late 2006, this is his sixth straight No. 1 … Paisley’s jump to No. 1 is the biggest of his career and the best for any artist since this week’s displaced No. 1, Taylor Swift’s “Our Song,” surged 6-1 on the Dec. 22 chart.
• Also on Hot Country Songs, Jewel takes the Hot Shot Debut at No. 50 with “Stronger Woman,” her second appearance on that chart. In 1999, she peaked at No. 56 as the duet partner of Merle Haggard, when the pair reprised his 1984 No. 1 “That’s the Way Love Goes.”
• Rise Against’s “The Good Left Undone” sets a new record for slowest climb into the Modern Rock top 10 as it jumps 13-10 in its 30th chart week. Its extended journey shatters the mark of 25 weeks that Sick Puppies’ “All The Same” set last August … Also on the Modern Rock chart this week, Silverchair’s “The Greatest View” debuts at No. 36. The tune is actually 6 years old and was originally found on the trio’s 2002 album “Diorama.” While the single is one of the band’s biggest international hits, it was never worked to U.S. radio. “View” is not included on the band’s current album “Young Modern,” but it will be stripped onto future pressings. In the meantime, the song is available on the iTunes-exclusive EP “The Greatest View.”

John Mellencamp celebrated his highest-charting album since 1985 as his “Freedom’s Road” landed at No. 5 with 56,000. The top two albums sold more than 100,000.
