These are some strange times, locked out, logged on. Stuck at home. Unless, of course, if you’re an introvert. Someone who’s in their element on their lonesome, without the noise and energy of others. An audiophile who works well on their own, and is good with their hands.
Kevin Parker is that person.
With the world in lockdown, the Tame Impala maestro has treated us with a new cut of The Slow Rush, his psychedelic-pop outfit’s fourth and latest album.
Streaming from the Tame Impala YouTube account, The Slow Rush In An Imaginary Place has another layer of warmth and activity. It sounds as though Parker mixed it from a distant solar system. Or a non-existent gig.
“I made something for all you isolators out there,” Parker writes. “Headphones required for full immersive effect. See you in there.”
Following its release Feb. 14, The Slow Rush started at No. 1 in the Australia, and went in at No. 3 in the U.S. (a new career high) and U.K.
