Kevin Liles, who resigned as Def Jam president in early February, is close to re-upping with the Island Def Jam Music Group, according to sources.
Liles is expected to sign a new deal to return as Def Jam president in the next 7-10 days, says a source familiar with the situation. Liles will report to Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who was named chairman of IDJMG last month, replacing Lyor Cohen, who went to Warner Music Group.
Meanwhile, the departure of Island president Julie Greenwald is certain, as she is expected to be named this week to a key post at the merged Atlantic/Elektra label.
A Universal Music Group spokesman could not be reached for comment.
