More and more celebrities are sharing their thoughts on the six-part docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, and on Wednesday (Jan. 9), Kevin Hart stopped by Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM Radio Andy show to reflect on how we, as a society, should think moving forward.
“I immediately talked to my daughter afterwards and my son,” the comedian told Cohen after saying that he watched the series. “Just make sure you understand that you have to be present. You have to be present, you have to talk to your kids, you have to make sure your kids got so much confidence in the ability to just have a conversation and talk.
“It’s — I don’t even want to use the word ‘unfortunate,’ because that’s the wrong word. It’s sad,” he continued. “What you realize that you’re looking at is a real damaged individual. … I think because of that it should be eye-opening to those around. I know right now it’s very easy to go, ‘F— R. Kelly, this is ridiculous’ and do all that stuff. Take that energy off of that and put that shit into your household. Make sure this is a time where you just embrace your household, your family, your loved ones and make sure you’re talking to these kids, man, because you don’t want this to be your child.”
