Multi-platinum hip-hop artist and entrepreneur Kevin Gates has re-signed with UTA for worldwide representation. Gates return to UTA comes after it was announced the artist had signed with CAA in January.
In September, Gates put out his second full-length album, I’m Him, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and has remained on the charts ever since its release.
Gates is currently on a 32-date North American tour in support of I’m Him with shows in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta and more. The tour concludes at the Wamu Theater in Seattle on Nov. 30.
His latest trek follows the sold out Luca Brasi 3 tour and performances at high-profile music festivals like JMBLYA and Rolling Loud. He also joined Cardi B on several arena tour dates.
Gates, whose music has exceeded 5 billion streams, previously released the platinum-certified 2016 debut album Islah that peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Islah featured quadruple-platinum single “2 Phones,” triple-platinum “Really Really” and several other platinum and gold-certified tracks. Following the album’s release, Gates became one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of 2016, second only to Drake.
UTA music agent Jonathan Briks began working with Gates in 2013. Since then, Briks and his UTA colleagues have helped develop Gates’ career from playing 300-500 capacity clubs to selling out 3,000-7,000 capacity venues. Gates’ signing reunites him with Briks.
