Kesha burst onto the scene as a chart-topping electropop party princess 10 years ago, and with her acclaimed 2017 comeback Rainbow, she demonstrated the full depth of her artistry, tearing souls out with “Praying” in one breath and then getting asses on the dancefloor with rockers like “Let ‘Em Talk” the next. Throughout it all, her Animals have been faithfully by her side, supporting her through the victories and rough patches – just like she’s been there for her fans since day one.
“When I was a little kid I was diagnosed with a brain tumor,” one longtime fan says in a video of Kesha fan testimonials Billboard is premiering below. “She called me four times when I was in surgery. I’d come home and Kesha would have sent flowers to the house. She’s really special to me….It makes the hard times less hard.”
“She’s in the pantheon of women we watched get destroyed and then had to build themselves back up again. She did it so beautifully and gave me so much strength,” another fan says.
And while Kesha gives her Animals strength, they provide the same for her. “In between my albums Warrior and Rainbow, I was in such a lost place, and if it wasn’t for my fans’ encouragement I don’t know if I would have had the drive to keep going,” she tells Billboard. “My Animals are my life! They give me life, confidence and purpose! Animals, y’all are my friends and my tribe and my inspiration and seeing your faces when I’m on stage is my ultimate inspiration and where I derive the most joy in my whole life!!!!! Thank you for not giving up on me and being the fucking best thing that’s ever happened to me :))))”
