The legendary Kenny Rogers will be spending quite a bit of time in Music City over the next few months, as he prepares to release a brand new album on Warner Brothers. The singer of such American classics as “Lucille” and “You Decorated My Life” will be kicking off the busy period with a performance on Nashville’s most hallowed stage — for a great cause.
Rogers will headline the 16th Annual Concert for Cumberland Heights on Wednesday, September 25 at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Tickets for the Concert for Cumberland Heights Presents An Evening with Kenny Rogers are on sale now.
Proceeds from the concert will support the John Hiatt Fund for Adolescent Treatment at Cumberland Heights, designed to help adolescents ages 14 to 18 and their families find the best way to tackle the challenges they face and help support recovery. Cumberland Heights offers young people residential, primary and extended care treatment in addition to outpatient services. The singer is excited to align himself with the organization.
“This is obviously a worthy cause, and I have so much admiration for John Hiatt’s involvement and realization of the need for this program,” said Rogers.
“I will actually do a song during the show written by John that I think shows the kind of person he is and the heart he has. It’s appropriately entitled ‘Have a Little Faith in Me.’ I simply want to do my share. I look forward to seeing everyone there. Together we CAN make a difference.”
Some lucky fans just might get to meet the performer. In addition to tickets being on sale at the Ryman box office, a special online auction runs from July 19 – August 2 on the ticket page at www.ryman.com. Rogers fans and Cumberland Heights supporters can bid on VIP packages including front row tickets, meet and greet passes and signed Kenny Rogers memorabilia. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the John Hiatt Fund for Adolescent Treatment at Cumberland Heights.
Rogers will return to Nashville a little over a month later, as he will officially be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame during the Medallion Ceremony in Nashville, slated for October 27. In addition to his recent selection for inclusion in the Hall of Fame, alongside Bobby Bare and Cowboy Jack Clement, Rogers will celebrate the upcoming release of his novel, “What Are The Chances,” co-written with Mike Blakely on September 3 and the paperback version of his New York Times Best Selling autobiography “Luck Or Something Like It” on September 24.
