MTV personality Kelly Osbourne (“The Osbournes”) won’t be making her feature film debut in “Freaky Friday” after all. The part-time singer and daughter of famed rocker Ozzy Osbourne was set to star opposite Annette Bening and Lindsay Lohan in the Walt Disney Co.’s “Friday,” playing Lohan’s musically inclined best friend in the remake of the 1976 comedy.
But Osbourne has dropped out of the project because of personal reasons, sources said. Her mother, Sharon Osbourne, has been undergoing treatment for colon cancer in recent months.
She will be replaced in the part — a role that includes singing — by Christina Vidal. Vidal, who had been cast in a smaller supporting role in “Friday,” will now play the best friend and lead singer of the girls’ band.
“Friday” stars Lohan as a tomboy teen who constantly argues with her widowed mother (Bening). When mother and daughter reveal their desire to escape their situation, they magically exchange bodies. But with Bening’s character due to get married, the two are forced to figure out a way to remedy their newfound dilemma.
Vidal has appeared in the features “Brink,” “Welcome to the Dollhouse” and “Life With Mikey.” She is also known for playing the title character on the Nickelodeon series “Taina.”
