Kelly Clarkson released a video Tuesday (Oct. 23) on Facebook encouraging Americans to vote in the Nov. 6 midterm election and “make the world much better,” regardless of their political leanings. The video was part of the #GetUpAndVote initiative from Linda Perry and John Legend, who co-wrote a short song to encourage people to vote.
“Can’t give up on hope, gotta get up and vote,” Clarkson sings from Perry and Legend’s song before beginning her message. “All right, you beautiful Americans, I don’t care who you vote for, if you’re independent, a Republican or a Democrat, I’m not about any party right now. I’m just about you using your privilege of living in a country where you can vote and you should vote.”
The 36-year-old included the hashtags #VoteMidterms and #GetUpAndVote with the video and also explained how to bring change to communities everywhere: “If you want action in your communities, you gotta be a part of it, so whoever you’re voting for, whoever rings your bell, go vote for them.”
