Who puts the her in hero? That’s the question behind a new video for International Women’s Day released on Monday (March 4).
In the black-and-white clip for CARE‘s new #HerInHERO campaign, 30 female celebrities — including Kelly Clarkson, Sophia Bush, Jess Glynne and others — name their personal female heroes. Most, including Clarkson, discuss the impact their mothers have had on their lives.
“I want to pick my mom,” said Kelly. “She had no education other than high school and just really worked her tail off and made something of herself, and she became an incredible teacher.”
Among the other female heroes discussed in the video are Sally Ride, the first American woman in space; marine biologist Sylvia Earle; and Dolly Parton.
