First Justin Bieber and now Keith Richards have posted moving tributes to Universal’s international project manager for Mercury Records Thomas Ayad, who was among the victims of the Paris attacks Friday night (Nov. 13).
Ayad was at the Bataclan theater at the Eagles of Death Metal show on Friday, where gunmen took hostages and killed 89 people inside the venue as part of a coordinated attack across the city. On Saturday, Universal Music Group Chairman Lucian Grainge sent a note to employees notifying them of the “unspeakably appalling tragedy” that was the loss of Ayad.

Bieber took to Twitter on Monday to publicly react to the news, writing, “Still thinking about Paris and my friend Thomas that we lost in the tragedy. He was a part of the team for years and I wish I would’ve had more time to thank him. Make sure to appreciate people while you have them. Thanks Thomas for everything you did for me. You are appreciated and missed. Thoughts and prayers are with your family & friends #PrayForParis.”

Shortly after, Richards uploaded a photo of himself with Ayad onto Instagram and offered “heartfelt condolences” to the 34 year-old’s family, adding, “I am horrified by the tragic events that took place in Paris last Friday night.”
