In honor of the 30th anniversary of his Talk Is Cheap album, Keith Richards sat down with Steve Jordan recently for an interview for SiriusXM’s Laying It Down With Steve Jordan to discuss the making of the record.
Jordan co-wrote and produced the album, which was Richards’ solo debut, along with the Rolling Stones guitarist, and the pair sat down to reflect on the songwriting process and its legacy.
The album will be reissued as a box set on Friday, and Richards told Jordan that he was always confident Talk Is Cheap would have a second life.
“When we made it, it did all right, and I’m totally satisfied with the work and everything, but I always had that extra feeling that somehow this record was gonna rear its head again,” he said. “They’ve amazed me with this presentation. And hey, it’s a damn good record, man…It does bring me back to what fun we had making it.”
Jordan’s full interview with Keith Richards will air at 8 p.m. on Tuesday on SiriusXM’s Volume, channel 106. In the meantime, check out some clips from the chat below.
