Confectionary American pop singer and rapper, Ke$ha, had the world’s biggest selling digital single with “Tik Tok” in 2010, according to the annual digital music report published today by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
Her ubiquitous pop-rap track sold 12.8 million copies, which was three million more than Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” which was legally paid for 9.8 million times. Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rhianna, came in at No. 3 selling a scant 100,000 less than Poker Face.
The internatinal top ten list is comprised almost entirely American artists (Canadian Bieber being the lone exception as well as Barbadian Rihanna who guest spots on “Love the Way You Lie”). The No. 4 – No. 10 singles, which each sold between 7.4 – 6.1 million copies, is rounded out by Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce’s “Telephone, Usher with Will.i.am’s “OMG,” Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister,” Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta a Feeling,” and Paramore’s “Crushcrushcrush.”
