Three new K-pop idol groups will be heading to Mexico City in March for KCON Mexico.
On Friday (Feb. 3), the Korean pop cultural festival added INFINITE H, NCT 127 and Red Velvet to the lineup for KCON Mexico. Along with the new acts, KCON also revealed the planned schedule for the headlining concerts.
Red Velvet, who attended KCON LA in 2015, recently made a comeback with their latest single, “Rookie.” Since their debut in 2014, Red Velvet has released one studio album and four EPs. Several have appeared on the Heatseekers and World Album charts; 2015’s The Red: The 1st Album topped the latter chart upon its release.
This will be the KCON debut of INFINITE H. The hip hop duo previously performed with the other five members of synthpop boy band INFINITE at KCON Japan 2015 but will appear in Mexico sans the rest of their bandmates. INFINITE’s Hoya and Dongwoo formed the subunit in 2013, and have released two EPs, 2013’s Fly High and 2015’s Fly Again.
NCT 127 is the newest act to attend KCON Mexico. As one of SM Entertainment’s many boy bands under the NCT title, NCT 127 has released two EPs including January’s Limitless, which debuted at No. 1 on the World Album chart.
KCON began in the US in 2012 with the aim to be K-pop’s largest music festival and has since spread tp the Middle East, Asia and Europe. The March festival is the first KCON event to be held in Latin America.
Tickets to attend the two-day convention and the concerts go on sale Feb. 7.
