One of 2018’s most popular K-pop girl groups and some of South Korea’s most prominent hip-hop and R&B stars will be descending on Los Angeles in August, KCON USA announced Thursday (June 7). Momoland, Dynamic Duo and Crush will join Wanna One and Chung Ha as part of the KCON 2018 LA concert lineup.
The five acts will perform at the headlining concerts of the annual Korean pop culture conference and music festival.
Formed in 2016, Momoland rose to fame earlier this year with their breakout track “Bboom Bboom.” The bright, eclectic electro-pop song went viral after its release just after the new year and landed at No. 4 on the World Digital Song Sales chart later in January. The group is releasing their new EP Fun to the World on June 26, their first new music since their infectious hit shot them to the upper echelons of the K-pop game. It is their first time attending a Stateside KCON, though they performed at KCON Japan in April.
KCON 2018 LA marks a return for stalwarts in their respective genres: hip-hop team Dynamic Duo and R&B crooner Crush, both of whom appeared at KCON 2017 NY last year. It’s been five years since Dynamic Duo performed at KCON 2013 LA and three since Crush appeared at KCON 2015 LA. Along with a variety of hits from throughout their careers, both recently put out new music: Crush, who is signed to Dynamic Duo’s label Amoeba Culture, dropped “Bittersweet” in May, and Dynamic Duo released the song “Bongjeseon” featuring Suran in February.
KCON 2018 LA takes place at the Staples Center and LA Convention Center on August 10-12. It will be preceded by KCON 2018 NY, held at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on June 23 and 24.
