Katy Perry is actually really over the bad blood she used to have with Taylor Swift, which she discussed when she dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (Sept. 17). The two songstresses have made amends over what began as a “misunderstanding,” swapping kind gestures and olive branches — quite literally.
Perry gifted the symbolic vine ahead of Swift’s Reputation Tour last May, which led them to start talking again. “And then we started seeing each other out and about, and I just would walk up to her and say, ‘Hey, how are you?’” the “Small Talk” singer recalled. “It’s like we have so much in common, there’s probably only 10 people in the world that have the same things in common. I was like, ‘We should really be friends over that and share our strengths and our weaknesses and our challenges.’”
Not only was it relieving to reconnect with her old friend for their own sake, but it was mature to set an example for their younger fans, whom Perry said turned on each other during her and Swift’s tumultuous feud.
Another mature moment in Perry’s life is her relationship with fiancé Orlando Bloom, which she discussed during her first appearance on the show since being engaged.
She described Bloom as “the kindest soul.” But the way he encourages her physically, aside from “spiritually, emotionally,” seems brutal from their hot yoga sessions.
“I do not care to work out,” she stated firmly. “And he’s like, ‘Let’s go work out! Let’s go and do yoga, hot yoga!’” DeGeneres said she chooses not to engage in the trendy exercise, but as “insane” as Perry puts it, “It feels so good afterwards.”
Their triple-layered love language helps regiment Perry as she helps take care of Bloom’s 8-year-old son. Becoming “matured” in this relationship has turned her into a morning person (“I used to wake up at 11 a.m.”) to make sure he’s not late for school. “I guess this is adulting!” the 34-year-old star exclaimed. “That’s why I still dress like a child!”
