A week after Katy Perry unveiled “Small Talk,” an ode to the awkward chit-chat following a break up, the songstress released a Spotify vertical video on Friday (Aug. 16) to accompany the tune.
The clip shows Perry in a blonde bob hairstyle and a colorful polka dot dress standing in a golden inflatable mouth. “Had every inch of your skin/There’s nowhere your hands haven’t been/Ain’t it funny?/’Cause now there’s nothing left but small talk/Blah-blah-blah-blah,” she sings as she rolls her eyes and moves her hands in correspondence to the lyrics.
“Small Talk” follows “Never Really Over,” which reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June (Perry’s collaboration with Zedd on “365” hit No. 86 in March).
