Katy Perry’s latest single “Firework” is coming to mobile phones via a special branded version of the popular Tap Tap Revenge franchise. Fans can download the game to listen and play along to the song for free a week before it gets its radio debut.
What’s interesting about this is that the game is sponsored by Microsoft’s Bing search engine, carrying the snappy title “Katy Perry Revenge by Bing.” In addition to the naming rights, the Bing engine is embedded in the game so users can search for lyrics to Perry’s songs and find other information.
According to Tap Tap Revenge developers Tapulous, recently acquired by Disney Mobile, this is the first time that they’ve created a sponsored app in this fashion, but plans to do more so going forward.
