Everyone wanted a piece of the massive Mega Millions lotto, even Katy Perry.
The “Firework” singer took a break from American Idol judging duties to go buy tickets for the draw: a record-setting cash payment of $US1.6 billion, which was drawn overnight.
Katy was spotted by another lottery hopeful, WDRB News reporter and anchor Gilbert Corsey, who captured the moment with a selfie.
“I guess even superstars want their shot at the #MegaBillions,” Corsey tweeted. “I bumped into Katy Perry taking a break from American Idol in Louisville to grab a ticket. (Side note she was a super sweet and took pictures with all!).”

Lotto fever swept the U.S. ahead of Tuesday night’s big reveal. Though Katy’s chances weren’t better than anyone else. The odds of winning the $1.6 billion jackpot were said to be 1 in 302,575,350,
Anyone lucky enough to land all six numbers — 28, 70, 5, 62, 65 with a Mega Ball of 5 — could choose an immediate cash payment of $904 million or receive the full sum spread over nearly 30 years.
The cash prize could rocket to $2 billion if there’s no winner, according to the Maryland and Texas Lotteries. There’s no word yet on whether Katy is sipping champagne and partying the night away.
