KATIE teamed up with Spotify to release a cover of India.Arie’s “Beautiful Surprise” and a new version of her first single “Remember.”
Released Wednesday (Oct. 3), the R&B singer’s take on “Beautiful Surprise,” from India.Arie’s 2002 album Voyage to India, is a mellow, acoustic ballad about living in the moment of an unexpected love. It and a new live jazz version of “Remember” were recorded at Spotify Studios NYC while KATIE was in New York over the summer.
Along with the two Spotify Singles, KATIE also released accompanying videos for each song. For “Beautiful Surprise,” the singer released a floral-enhanced lyric video, while she also released a clip of her performing “Remember” in a New York City subway station. “Remember” was originally released in June with a luxurious, gold-toned music video.
After growing up in New Jersey, KATIE, also known as Katie Kim, rose to fame in South Korea through her appearance on K-pop Star 4 in 2015. She was signed to YG Entertainment, home to the likes of BIGBANG and Blackpink, until recently moving to AXIS, under which she released her first single “Remember.”
