Katharine McPhee is paying tribute to the heroes who are healing as the coronavirus continues to spread.
The songstress uploaded a clip to Twitter on Monday (March 23) from her Instagram livestream with husband David Foster, in which she sings Mariah Carey’s 1993 classic, “Hero.” The cover was dedicated to the medical professionals working around the clock to help those in need.
“So this is a song that I sang—it was the first time that I sang actually publicly when I was in the fifth grade. It was my talent competition,” she explains in the video. “This was my favorite artist who I learned how to, you know, riff—or I tried to learn how to riff. I did my best learning from this amazing artist. I’m obsessed with her.”
She then delved into a beautiful rendition of the tune, with Foster accompanying her on the piano.
“Been a lamb all my life, thanks for lifting our spirits in the toughest times – even 25+ years later, @MariahCarey,” McPhee captioned the post on Twitter with a red heart emoji. “We dedicate this to all the doctors, nurses and healthcare workers – the actual heroes – who are tirelessly helping all of us in these times of despair. Much love! X.”
