Kashmir and Tim Christensen were the big winners Saturday (Feb. 28) at the Danish Music Awards 2004, held at the Copenhagen Forum.
Christensen won the best album prize, along with best male vocalist and producer (shared with Rune Nissen-Petersen) for his work on the album “Honeyburst” (EMI-Medley).
Kashmir’s “Zitilites” (Sony) earned the group best rock album, act and album cover, while its “Rocket Brothers” single earned the video prize.
Newcomer Julie, a Pop Stars runner-up, grabbed honors for best female vocalist and new act, and her EMI-Medley debut “Home” won for best pop album. BMG’s Outlandish took best single for “Aicha.”
SMS-text voting determined 10 of the evening’s 20 winners. Like last year, EMI took nine of the trophies on offer. Live acts included Blue, Kevin Lyttle, Sarah McLachlan, the Raveonettes, Bent Fabric and Christensen.
The event was arranged by Welcome Event Marketing for IFPI. Organizers say the broadcast on public channel TV 2 attracted nearly 1 million viewers.
