After a one-minute snippet of Kanye West‘s new track “White Dress” was released on Wednesday night (Oct. 10), the full song, from the soundtrack to “The Man With The Iron Fists,” hit the Web on Friday.
Produced by West and the RZA with Tapez and Boogz, “White Dress” is marked by a buttery soul sample and contemplative lyrical tone, with the superstar rapper presumably issuing a State of the Union address about his current relationship with Kim Kardashian. “You like piña coladas, getting’ caught in the rain/ Or rocking flannels all summer like Kurt Cobain/Or that Dolce & Gabbana with a few gold chains/And you the type of girl that probably deserves a new last name,” West raps on the track.
Along with co-producing “White Dress,” the RZA co-wrote, co-stars in and directed “The Man with the Iron Fists,” a kung-fu epic hitting theaters on Nov. 2. The accompanying soundtrack, featuring “White Dress” as well as contributions from the Wu-Tang Clan, Pusha T, the Revelations and The Black Keys, was executive-produced by the RZA will be released on Oct. 23.
“White Dress” is the first taste of new Kanye West music since “Cruel Summer,” his GOOD Music compilation, was released last music. The album slips to No. 12 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart.
