Kanye West’s Webster Hall Show: Footage From the Chaos Outside the Venue

The streets outside Webster Hall in New York turned chaotic early Monday morning (June 6)  after a last-minute secret show by Kanye West was canceled, with thousands of fans flooding the streets, jumping on cars and attempting to gain entry to the venue. The throng gathered after West’s headlining set at the Governors Ball festival was canceled due to weather and his creative director, Virgil Abloh, posted (and then erased) a tease that the rapper would be playing a show at the 1,500-capacity Webster Hall at 2 a.m.

Kanye West’s Surprise Webster Hall Concert Canceled Following ‘Near Riot’

The show whisper, confirmed by 2 Chainz, caused large groups of fans to rush to to the East Village venue, with security struggle to contain the chaos. When West tweeted at 1 a.m. that the show was sold out, the crowd went wild.

Thousands of Kanye West fans are seen chasing after the hip-hop star in Manhattan after his surprise Webster Hall show was canceled. The show was announced after rain lead to the cancelation of Governor’s Ball on Sunday. But after more than 4,000 people showed up to the venue – which can only house 1,500 – officials decided against the second concert as well.
