Kacey Musgraves has had quite the year. In April, she released her third studio album Golden Hour, and it immediately launched to the top 10 of the Billboard 200.
Most recently, she rocked Stagecoach Music Festival and served as the opening act for country superstars Little Big Town. But on May 12, the songstress will be hitting the Saturday Night Live stage as the evening’s musical guest.

Neon butterfly wings
Just one week ago, Musgraves released a dark and sparking visual for her lovestruck tune “Butterflies.” Throughout the video, a neon pair of butterfly wings are seen making an appearance. We can only hope the songstress is decked in a sparkly dress with those same wings either in the background or worn by Musgraves herself.
An appearance by Harry Styles
Musgraves is about to hit the road with the former One Direction member in support of his first solo headlining tour’s final leg. In celebration, Styles should join Musgraves for a heart-melting duet full of smooth and ethereal vocals.
Broken hearts from the “Space Cowboys” performance
The music video for the poignant melody follows the idea of coming to terms with leaving a former lover. The performance of the song will hopefully be equally as devastating, with dark, moody colors and heartstring-tugging vocals via Musgraves.
A female comedy duo with Amy Schumer
Schumer, the host of the night, is sure to bring all sorts of laughs with her sarcastic, no-nonsense humor. It would be amazing to see Musgraves dip her toes in comedy and join Schumer for a sketch. If you don’t believe they’d be a good pair, watch their hilarious promo for the episode below.
John Mayer in the audience
Following the release of Golden Hour, Mayer took to Instagram to rave about the record and Musgraves’ connection to “beautiful sadness.” “Every time she sings I get a lump in my throat. Her voice goes straight to your core,” he wrote. Maybe the crooner can take his fandom to the next level and watch one of his “favorite artists in the galaxy” play live from NBC studios?
