30 Rock was hot with Bieber fever when Justin Bieber brought his Purpose hits to NBC’s Today on Wednesday morning, Nov. 18.
He brought along some famous plus-ones, including Big Sean for a performance of their track “No Pressure” and Halsey for a live rendition of “The Feeling.” The Biebs also performed his hits “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean” as well as the Ed Sheeran-penned ditty “Love Yourself” and the Travi$ Scott-assisted “Company.”
In the wake of the Paris attacks that claimed more than 100 lives last Friday (Nov. 13), J.B. wrote a letter about losing his friend, a Universal Music Group employee, in the shootings and expanded on his loss.
“It was really hard for me,” he told Matt Lauer. “We’d been working together for four or five years. It’s a sad thing. Hearts and prayers go out to their families.”
Bieber also spoke on how Purpose reflects his current situation. “It just reflects where I am right now and we’re going up,” he said. “It’s been a long journey but I think I’m in the best place I’ve ever been.”
He added that his more mature self is a result of the support system around him. “A lot of people go through those struggles but they’re not in the public eye,” he said. “I grew up in the spotlight so it was tough for me but we’re on the other side. I’m 21 and I got a lot of great people surrounding me, a lot of good support systems.”
While he struggled with technical difficulties (mostly on “Sorry”), watch him power through his Today set below.
