Heartbreaker Justin Bieber covers Teen Vogue’s May Music issue. This is the second time the singer has appeared on the cover of the mag. He first fronted the cover back in October 2010. While that issue highlighted his mega rise to fame, this one has a different focus with the caption reading, “Justin’s Crazy Year.”
The double cover issue features the singer giving some serious pout while flashing his tattoos in a white tank top and gold chain. For the second cover the Biebs channels James Dean on a motorcycle sporting a red plaid shirt and jeans. The cover line quotes Justin saying, “I know who I am, and I’m very much in control.”
Inside the mag the “Boyfriend” singer responded to current rumors and negative press. “I don’t need to address every speculation,” he says. “Remember when Cam’Ron dissed Jay-Z? Jay-Z didn’t even respond. Why didn’t he respond, because he’s Jay-Z.”
Teen Vogue hopes to bring in better sales then other Justin fronted mags. According to WWD Bieber covered Vanity Fair’s worst selling issue ever in 2011 and sold 5% below average for Rolling Stone that same year. This could suggest that Bieber Fever has cooled off. Or maybe those publications were the wrong market for him. Whatever the case may be, this new story is a timely one that speaks directly to his demographic.
