Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” has reigned atop the Hot 100 chart for five weeks, and its smash hit status has invited a slew of viral videos and musical tributes to the debut single. Now, a pop superstar is hopping aboard: Justin Bieber is now on a new version of hip-hop/R&B producer Maejor Ali’s remix of “All About That Bass,” which you can hear exclusively below:
On the new version of the remix, Bieber can be heard crooning along to the hook that helped make Trainor’s song the biggest in the country, eventually declaring, “I’m all about that bass, no treble/We gonna take it to a whole ‘nother level.” As Maejor Ali lays down some electrifying synth stabs and crackling beats over “All About That Bass,” the Biebs spits, “We know that shit ain’t real/We know it’s Photoshopped!”
Maejor Ali — best known for his production work for Trey Songz, Keri Hilson and Iggy Azalea among others, and for serving as the lead artist on the Bieber/Juicy J single “Lolly” last year — released a solo version of his “All About That Bass” remix in August, and says that he’s more than happy to have his famous pal along for the ride two months later.
“I’m excited to bring a hood yet house twist to such a catchy song,” says Ali. “I first put this song out as a production remix on my own. Not soon after it went out Meghan heard it, then Justin heard it, and shortly after they asked me to pull my version down so that the collaboration could happen. And that’s the dopest part.”
Bieber and Trainor both made Billboard.com’s annual 21 Under 21 list last month — check out where the respective pop stars rank on this year’s tally.
