Just days ahead of playing Billboard’s inaugural Hot 100 Festival, singer-songwriter Justin Baron has premiered his new single “For You.”
“’For You’ is the most honest song I’ve ever written,” the New York City artist tells Billboard of the electro-leaning pop cut. “Love isn’t always pretty. Sometimes, you’ve looked at your phone 73 times in an hour waiting to hear from someone… But I think there’s beauty in that. I wanted to write something that didn’t apologize for being hopelessly hooked on another.”
Hailing from Lancaster, Pa., Baron — who will be the only unsigned artist performing at the Hot 100 Festival — previously co-wrote John Legend’s “Made to Love” from 2013’s Grammy-nominated Love in the Future and released his single “I’m Still Believing” at the top of the summer.
The Hot 100 Festival is slated to take place Saturday and Sunday at Nikon Jones Beach Theater. Baron, who performs on the Hot 100 stage on Saturday at 2 p.m., joins billed artists including Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and more.
