Pete Tong has been chasing Justice “for years” to get back in the Essential Mix DJ booth, but the French electro rock icons don’t drop music just because someone asked them to. It takes an average of five years for the pair to release an album, and it’s been nine years since Justice made its Essential Mix debut.
Justice was scheduled to celebrate the release of third LP Woman with a two-hour follow up in November, but that ended up getting pushed back because, well, it’s Justice. Finally, the moment has arrived, and Justice have delivered what they call “another side of the music that we love.” Self-described as “slow, moody, and heavy,” the mix features new Justice tracks alongside songs from Air, Pink Floyd, Frank Ocean, Gesaffelstein, and more. It’s not the mix that will get you through your workout, but it just might help you reach that next level of consciousness.
The Justice mix is the last Essential Mix for 2016. Listen to it in all its mysterious glory below.
