Jussie Smollett emerged from a social media blackout on Wednesday (March 25) to share a song amidst the global coronavirus pandemic.
“Quarantine day 421…Hope y’all are staying safe. Spread love and kindness… not Rona,” the embattled star wrote alongside a clip of himself singing a cover of Stevie Wonder‘s 1966 single “A Place in the Sun.”
The rare post elicited a wave of responses from fellow celebs, with the likes of Cynthia Erivo, Lena Waithe, Blair Underwood and Laverne Cox leaving messages of support and heart emojis in the comments.
On Feb. 24, Smollett pleaded not guilty to a new wave of charges stemming from a reported Jan. 2019 hate crime that police allege the star faked for sympathy. Since becoming embroiled in the headline-making scandal, the former Empire star has remained largely quiet on social media.
