Juanes, Paulina Rubio, Kinky, and Molotov have been added to the performance lineup for the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards Latin America. The Oct. 24 event, to be hosted by Argentine TV and radio personality Mario Pergolini and Mexican actor Diego Luna, will air live on MTV Latin America and MTV2 from the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach. MTV will air the event Nov. 1 in the U.S.
Previously announced performers include Shakira, Avril Lavigne, Cafe Tacuba, Diego Torres, Alvaro Henriquez, Ely Guerra, Javiera Parra, Erica Garcia, System Of A Down, Mana, and Carlos Santana with Michelle Branch.
Johnny Knoxville and “Jackass” cast members, Aterciopelados’ Andrea Echeverri and Hector Buitrago, Enrique Bunbury, Fey, Alex Lora, Dante, Anastacia, Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, Iggy Pop, Vicentico, Los Prisioneros’ Jorge Gonzalez, and Aleks Syntek are among the confirmed presenters.
Shakira, Torres, and Juanes lead this year’s nominations with five, including artist of the year and video of the year. La Ley, Kinky, and Rubio earned four nominations each, while a number of artists tallied three nods, including Alejandro Sanz, Enrique Iglesias, Catupecu Machu, and Babasonicos.
