Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes was awarded the “Al-Rashind Hope Award” for his humanitarian efforts during the annual Fedex/St. Jude Angels & Stars Gala.
The event, which took place May 15 in Miami, benefited St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a pediatric cancer research center.
“As a father, I can’t help but feel deeply touched by the children who are at St. Jude at this moment. The mission of this hospital is truly unique and the magnitude of hope that it brings to thousands of families is unimaginable,” said Juanes in a statement.
Prior St. Jude honorees include Thalia and Tommy Mottola and Gloria and Emilio Estefan.
In other Juanes news, the singer will premiere his new single, “Yerbatero,” during the FIFA World Cup Kick-off Celebration Concert taking place in Johannesburg June 10.
