Colombian pop star Juanes has laid out plans for the first U.S. leg of his 2005 world tour. The 25-date Mi Sangre tour will kick off Feb. 23 in Tampa, Fla., playing a mix of arenas and large theaters through May 6 in Universal City, Calif. A second leg of 40 U.S. dates in the summer will also be part of the run, which is expected to encompass more than 200 shows internationally.
Released in October, Juanes’ “Mi Sangre” (Surco/Universal Latino) debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts, and No. 33 on The Billboard 200. The set has sold 130,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“It’s more about family, about love, about my daughter [8-month-old Luna],” the 34-year-old performer told Billboard of the album in September. “It’s also an album about self-improvement and hope.”
As previously reported, Juanes was named best Latin artist at the 51st Premios Ondas award ceremony, held Nov. 23 in Barcelona.
