Josh Groban will begin a North American tour Jan. 25 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla. The 30-date outing will wrap March 19 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Internet pre-sale opportunities for some dates begin as early as Wednesday (Dec. 1) via Ticketmaster.
The tour will be Groban’s third continental run in support of his sophomore 143/Reprise album “Closer.” Groban’s first-ever outing last winter was named Top Small Venue Tour at the recent Billboard Backstage Pass touring conference.
Groban followed that tour with a summer amphitheatre run that took his total 2004 tour grosses to more than $26.7 million, making it among the top 25 tours for the year, according to Billboard Boxscore. Both tours were produced by Clear Channel Entertainment, under the direction of Nick Masters.
A summer Los Angeles date is the basis for the CD/DVD “Live at the Greek,” due tomorrow (Nov. 30). Footage from the set will be utilized in Groban’s second PBS special, to premiere in December.
Groban is in the midst of an international tour that will play the second of two shows in Johannesburg tomorrow. European dates begins Dec. 8 in Amsterdam and close Dec. 22 in London.
Groban is booked by Gayle Holcomb at the William Morris Agency and managed by Brian Avnet.
