Before the 141st Kentucky Derby on Saturday (May 2), Josh Groban sang the National Anthem.
Dressed in a blue suit, he performed the National Anthem in front of a crowd gathered at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky to watch the annual horse race. He earned rapturous cheers from the crowd as he wrapped up his emotional performance of the song.
You can watch his performance below.
Groban is just the seventh artist to perform the National Anthem since the tradition began in 2009. Previously, Jo Dee Messina, Martina McBride, Mary J. Blige, Jordin Sparks, Rascal Flatts and Lee Ann Rimes have performed the song at the event.
The Kentucky Derby is the first race in the Triple Crown. The Preakness Stakes will take place on May 16, followed by the Belmont Stakes on June 6.
