Josh Groban hosted a Billboard Live At-Home performance on Friday (March 20) to raise money for Meals on Wheels America, a nonprofit that provides nutrition and helps to eliminate isolation to the elderly.
Set up on his home piano, the crooner delivered a number of heartwarming tunes that represent “a really nice sentiment for what everyone is going through right now,” including “February Song,” Great Lake Swimmers’ “Changing Colours” and the classic “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” which he dedicated to medical professionals and people who are working in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.
“This is a song that is so needed in times of trouble, divisiveness, fear and anxiety,” he explained. “I do believe that we can do this together.”
But the real treat came at the end of the live stream, when fans in the comments were begging the singer to perform his hit song, “You Raise Me Up.” Though he admitted that he didn’t have a bagpipe, string section or choir that provides the emotion of an on-stage concert, Groban grabbed his phone and made his way to the next-best option — his bathroom.
That’s right. Josh Groban performed “You Raise Me Up” in his shower, with his beard oil on the shelf in the background. And it was glorious.
