Jordan Fisher somehow finds a free night to go out on the town and form some bonds worth writing home about on his latest single “Contact,” available exclusively on Billboard.
As a performer, actor and dancer, Fisher is an undeniably tactile-minded talent, and he translates those sensibilities into his music with a raw physicality that’s just as tangible. The song begins with a resistant Fisher stepping out on his own and committing to look out for himself, but as the enveloping synth and heart-pumping pace begin to take effect, he succumbs to the thrills of the night and a potentially perfect match.
“‘Contact’ is that feeling you get when you’re around someone whose energy is so palpable, you don’t even need to be intimate with to feel,” Fisher tells Billboard. “It’s revolving and relentless.”
Fisher uses his effortless rom-com-ready charm to imbue the mature, sumptuous tune with an inherent gentleness that reflects the precious connection he feels in the moment. Despite the song’s propulsive pop beat and his impressive vocal delivery, Fisher manages to express a profound, often wordless attraction that feels wholly authentic and downright enchanting.
“Contact” arrives in the throes of a hot-streak for the multi-hyphenate artist, fresh off his love-interest leading role in the Netflix film To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and moving straight into a stint on Broadway starring as the titular main character in the Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen. While continuing to advance his musical pursuits, Fisher is also slated to appear in the Netflix dance comedy Work It with Sabrina Carpenter later this year.
