The Hollywood Hills home of vocal legend Johnny Mathis was severely damaged in a fire on Monday, Nov. 2.
The 80-year-old singer, known for popular renditions of Christmas songs, had lived in the house for 56 years. He was not at his house at the time of the fire.
In a news report from KTLA-TV, Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Dean Zipperman stated, “Due to the fact the neighbors had said something, we immediately got all of his trophies and some of his memorabilia that was irreplaceable.”
On losing decade-long collection of mementos, Mathis said, “Those are just things, you know. I’m a very lucky man. I could have been here, I could have been in bed… I’m very lucky, a little sad of course, but lucky.”

Thank you @LAFD for your swift response, and everyone for your support! Johnny wasn’t home at the time of the fire, and nobody was hurt.
