The actor known for his hoofing shows off some TikTok-worthy moves alongside daughter Ella, 20, in an all-star ScottsMiracle-Gro spot that is slated to unspool during Sunday’s (Feb. 7) big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 45-second spot pays tribute to the myriad ways we are enjoying and enhancing our outdoor spaces during the pandemic lockdown, with appearances by the Travoltas, comedian Matt Braunger, Martha Stewart, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, Rocky actor Carl Weathers, fitness instructor Emma Lovewell and The Office’s perennially dyspeptic Leslie David Baker.
The company’s first-ever Super Bowl add encourages gardeners to “Keep Growing” as Busch drives his riding law mower around the yard. Meanwhile, a frustrated Ella Travolta tries to teach her 66-year-old boomer dad how to work the camera on her phone as they bust some Grease hand jive moves to Surfaces‘ “Sunday Best” while Baker warns them, “Hey Travoltas, don’t be tikety-toking on my grass!”
“The idea behind this Super Bowl campaign is a continuation of what we’ve been doing for our brands over the last year—building relationships with new consumers who have entered the category,” said John Sass, vice president of advertising at ScottsMiracle-Gro in a statement. “We’re meeting them where they are, from TikTok to Instagram to the Super Bowl.”
