John Legend and Common have both released statements following their Golden Globe Best Original Song nomination for “Glory,” from the film Selma.
“Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for recognizing ‘Glory’ with a nomination for Best Original Song!,” Legend said in a statement. “Common and I wrote this song for Selma as a labor of love in honor of this magnificent film and the incredible men and women whose struggle the film chronicles. As we continue to march for justice and equality in 2014, we are so inspired by their work.”

“Glory,” which you can listen to below, will compete against “Big Eyes” (Big Eyes), “Mercy Is” (Noah) “Opportunity” (Annie), and “Yellow Flicker Beat” (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part I).
