In a collaboration that, two years ago, literally no one would have expected, celebrity televangelist Joel Osteen and Kanye West have formed an unlikely friendship.
Last month, West flew out to Houston to bring his Sunday Service performance to Osteen’s Lakewood Church, personally invited by the pastor due to the rapper’s recent commitment to Christianity.
Osteen stopped by Good Morning America on Wednesday (Dec. 17), where he chatted with Robin Roberts about his new pal Kanye and how they even crossed paths in the first place. “Kanye’s had a turn of events in the last year or so,” Osteen explained before noting that ‘Ye texted him. “We just struck up a conversation and friendship.”
“It just felt right to me because–I’m a believer in people and I found him to be very genuine and just a fantastic person,” he continued.
The duo will link up again on May 2 for Osteen’s America’s Night of Hope tour stop at New York City’s Yankee Stadium.
