Jewel has announced that she and husband Ty Murray are expecting their first child.
The 36-year-old singer, who is in her second trimester, posted the happy news on her blog earlier today and confirmed the pregnancy in an interview with People.
“I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!” says Jewel, who is co-hosting Bravo’s upcoming reality show “Going Platinum.” “It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I’d start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant.'”
Jewel (real name: Jewel Kilcher) married rodeo star Murray in August 2008, two months after releasing her first country music album, “Perfectly Clear.” The singer says that the couple had been trying to conceive for two years, and that she had “always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way.”
Before having their first baby, Jewel and Murray will work on remodeling their Texas ranch, while the singer also preps the follow-up to her 2009 children’s album, “Lullaby.”
