Jesse McCartney returned late last year with the four-song EP “In Technicolor Part 1,” which teased a full-length album, “In Technicolor,” due out this summer on his own Eight0eight Records. “Superbad” will be the lead single from that album, and before the song hits iTunes on May 6, fans can check out the artwork and a snippet of the track below, both exclusively on Billboard.com:
After collecting hits like “Leaving’,” “How Do You Sleep?” and “Beautiful Soul” over a decade-long career, McCartney tells Billboard that “In Technicolor” is his “proudest musical achievement to date.” Last November, the singer-songwriter confirmed that the album will rely heavily on live instrumentation, while drawing inspiration from dance phenoms like Michael Jackson and Kool & The Gang.
“‘Superbad’ is driven by its funk baseline and guitars,” says McCartney. “It’s been really challenging, but also much more rewarding to be doing this independently. I’m really excited for this next phase.”
Along with next week’s iTunes release, “Superbad’s” music video will also be unveiled on May 6. Check back with Billboard to further updates on McCartney’s upcoming “In Technicolor” album.
