After appearing on each other’s former solo projects, Jesse Boykins III and MeLo-X have teamed up to bring the soulful collaborative album, “Zulu Guru” (Oct. 30).
The 14-song full-length is laced with impassioned songwriting of love’s many facets and genre-bending soundcapes influenced by the artists’ international travels. Jesse and MeLo-X incorporate elements of Afro-Beat, West Indian, and Electronic Soul and more into “Zulu Guru.”
Check out an exclusive stream of “Zulu Guru,” here on The Juice, till Sunday night (Oct. 28).
“In this music there is honesty; pure understanding or putting forth the effort to understand the emotions that make us do what we do,” Jesse and MeLo-X share of the album. “We write to express and highlight things within ourselves and our culture that we feel hold some sort of significance, good or bad. We deeply connect with the many cultures of the world, traveling and over-involving ourselves with awareness. This music we bring to you is a sonic form of connection, a humbling form of passion, and the advancement of art in form of romance.”
