Interscope Geffen A&M has named Jeremy Summers its EVP/Chief Marketing Officer. Summers formerly served as the senior VP of Marketing for Universal Music Canada, a position he held since autumn 2010. He had been a part of the sales department at Universal Music Canda since 1994.
The announcement was made from Interscope Geffen A&M’s Vice-Chairman Steve Berman, whom Summers will report to directly. “Firstly, we welcome Jeremy to the Interscope family, a label that he is more than familiar with, having helped successfully brand and develop our artists in the Canadian marketplace for many years,” said Berman in a statement.
Berman also thanked Randy Lennox, president and CEO of Universal Music Canada and a mentor to Summers.
“Jeremy is a modern music executive with a marketing pedigree earned from seventeen years of service to our Canadian company,” said Lennox of his mentee. “He has enriched our business through his acumen and imagination-and will surely do likewise for our cousins Stateside. We shall miss his keen insights and wish him ever greater successes in his continued career with Interscope.”
Summers also made a statement looking forward to his new team. “Jimmy Iovine has built a powerhouse creative team at Interscope Geffen A&M, and it is an absolute honour that he’s entrusting me to work in support of his innovative vision. I’m thankful to Steve Berman for this opportunity, and welcome his guidance as we lead and execute the strategies for our world class artists. I am very grateful to Randy Lennox for his leadership and support and I’ll miss the talented team and friends that I’ve had the pleasure of working with at Universal Music Canada.”
