Being popular in Hollywood, as is apparently the case with Jenny Lewis, has its benefits. If you didn’t notice, the recently released video for her song “Just One of the Guys,” which Lewis directed, features three of the most in-demand actresses right now: Kristen Stewart, Brie Larson and Oscar winner Anne Hathaway. Along with Lewis’ pal Tennessee Thomas, the drummer for Los Angeles alt-rock band The Like (and a sometime actress herself), the women play the singer’s backup band, lip-syncing her lyrics and goofing off while dressed up as dudes in Adidas tracksuits, facial hair and wigs – and, in Hathaway’s case, a rattail.
“The song and the comedic performances are brilliant – the day of the shoot, I laughed more than I have in God knows how long,” says Thomas, who has been friends with Lewis for “13 years, or something crazy.”
Larson, who sported a blond mustache in the shoot, was equally over the moon. “It was a dream to collaborate with an artist who has given so much insight into my own life,” says Larson, who has starred in 21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (alongside Thomas) and last year’s Spectacular Now. (She is currently filming The Gambler with Mark Wahlberg.) “Jenny has always represented truth, curiosity and what a bad-ass lady looks like.”
